Wadley Hemodialysis Unit

The primary function of this unit is to provide dialysis services to inpatients with acute renal failure and those chronic renal failure patients who have a condition requiring hospitalization. Patient populations include early adulthood to geriatric.

Hours of Operation

The unit is open 7:00 a.m. - 7:00 p.m., 7 days a week. Nursing staff are on call 7:00 p.m. - 7:00 a.m.

Staffing

The Hemodialysis Unit is staffed by RN's trained in Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) and other clinical support personnel.

The method of patient care delivery in the Hemodialysis Unit can best be described as "team nursing". The care of all patients will be planned, directed, and evaluated by licensed personnel and assigned to patients on the basis of:
  • the severity of patient needs
  • nurse training and experience
  • staff availability
  • continuity of patient care
  • infection control measures
Monitor Technicians assist the hemodialysis staff, offering continuous observation of all cardiac monitors. Regular staff RN's will assist with:
  • coordination of treatments
  • handling of emergency situations
