Maternity Services

Labor, Delivery & Recovery

Giving birth is a momentous occasion to be celebrated with family and friends in a joyful, compassionate environment. Visiting hours in our birthing center are flexible, allowing our mom's to spend quality time with their families during the birthing process.

Our women's pavilion is designed to support a full range of birthing services, including high-risk and Caesarian section deliveries. Expectant mothers receive the utmost in birthing care and comfort in one of our 13-beautifully furnished and spaciously designed LDR suites, and Wadley exclusively provides in-house obstetrical and anesthesia coverage, around the clock.

Wadley has been the Birth Place of Texarkana for generations. With the area's most experienced birthing staff, Wadley has set a precedent for childbirth excellence in the Four-State area.

Each infant arrival is celebrated as the Brahm's Lullaby sweetly plays throughout the Medical Center. Because the addition of a family member should be the ultimate highlight of family life, Wadley strives to make each birthing experience a unique one.

Beepers are available to expectant parents and to the parents of hospitalized infants, providing ease of communication between family members and the Medical Center.

Nursery

While moms rest and relax, their babies are under the watchful eye of an extremely competent Nursery staff. A century of birthing experience and newborn care has taught is the importance of immediate and continued mother-baby contact, as well as early father-baby-sibling bonding.

Our nursery is comprised of three unique units:
  • Newborn
  • Intermediate
  • Level-II Neonatal Intensive Care
Universal hearing screenings are performed on each newborn prior to discharge, and babies who are discharged early are given appointments to return within 48 hours for a newborn check-up.

Each mom is also given the opportunity to post her baby's first photo and birth announcement on the Internet, within hours of birth. Our WebNursery can be accessed at www.wadleyhealth.com. This service is especially nice for those relatives who live away and cannot be present for the baby's birth.

Postpartum Care

The pampered care each new mom receives continues with her stay in our newly decorated Post Partum rooms and suites. Flexible visitation hours make it easy for moms, dads, siblings, grandparents and babies to begin that early bonding process.

Fetal Monitoring System

Wadley's Birthing Center is equipped with the latest generation fetal/maternal monitoring system. The monitoring system produces a data strip that records pertinent information on the mother and infant and is considered the "medical record" of the unborn baby. With this new technology, standard charting on the mother-to-be begins at admission and continues through the delivery and recovery period. And because the monitoring system downloads information to the appropriate areas, quick access of patient information is right at the caregiver's fingertips.
