Cancer Focused Community Needs Assessment 2012

This report contains recent data from the CoC Joint Cancer Programs of Wadley Regional Medical Center and CSMHS. The Commision on Cancer Approved Cancer Programs data is collected through the UAMS AHEC Southwest Cancer Registry for these facilities. The data identifies disparities in cancer incidence by race, gender, age and AJCC stage at diagnosis.

Cancer Resource Center

If you or a loved one has been diagnosed with cancer, there is information at your finger tips inside the Wadley Regional Medical Center-American Cancer Society (ACS) Resource Center. The center is staffed by trained, certified American Cancer Society volunteers and offers a variety of current cancer information.  This includes information on educational programs, services available, community resources such as transportation to and from appointments, and housing during treatment.

In addition to the educational materials, The Resource Center offers a lending library and head coverings such as hats, scarves and wigs (for patients whose insurance does not cover this). The volunteers visit patients in treatment areas to offer assistance and raise awareness of the services provided by the ACS and community resources that are available to cancer patients and their families.

The Resource Center is open to the public Monday & Tuesday from 9am to 12pm and is available by appointment by calling (903) 798-7074.

For around-the-clock cancer information and support, call the American Cancer Society at 1-800-227-2345 or visit www.cancer.org.

If you are interested in becoming an American Cancer Society Resource Center volunteer at Wadley, please contact the Volunteer Coordinator at (903) 798-7074.
