Diagnostic Imaging

Diagnostic Imaging Center

Staffed by Board Certified Radiologists, an interventional radiologist, and radiology technologists, Wadley’s Diagnostic and Imaging Center assists physicians with sophisticated equipment available to identify disease or injury within the body.

There are nine unique imaging modalities available:

  • Computerized Tomography (CT),
  • Nuclear Medicine
  • Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI)
  • Ultrasound
  • Diagnostic X-Ray
  • Mammography
  • Bone Densitometry
  • Cardiac Cath
  • Special Procedures

Digital MRI

The first-ever digital broadband magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) machine—the Philips Ingenia—is now available inTexarkana only at Wadley Regional Medical Center. Until now, all MRI systems have used analog components for signal acquisition and processing.  The signals are now digitized immediately and transmitted through a fiberoptic cable instead of the analog-to-digital conversion

used in current analog MRI systems.  DirectDigital RF (radiofrequency) technology digitizes the signal to capture it at its purest.

The new Philips Ingenia MRI provides crystal-clear images with remarkable
speed. Designed to advance diagnosis and radiology workflow, it reduces
unnecessary exam preparation time and offers a more comfortable patient experience. It allows for whole upper-body imaging without having to move the patient.

Breast MRI

Wadley is committed to providing leadingedge technology to Texarkana and will be the only hospital in the area to have breast MRI capabilities. Conventional mammography is very effective for women at average risk for breast cancer, while breast MRI is a useful tool for women at high risk for breast cancer or who have dense breast tissue.

Mammography services are provided in a private, personal setting by female technologists certified by ARRT Our breast imaging services use a low-dose technique, the safest and most reliable diagnostic procedure available to detect abnormalities in the breast. In cases where an abnormality is found, Wadley offers the stereotactic needle biopsy system – a alternative to surgical biopsy. Women who choose the outpatient stereotactic biopsy can literally leave with a Band-Aid in place and return to their normal daily activities.

Ultrasound-guided breast biopsies using the Mammotome are also a welcome option for women who require biopsy examination to detect the presence of abnormal tissue.

Wadley Regional Medical Center is deeply committed to women’s breast health and has recently invested in some of the latest technology available to diagnose breast cancer, including Neoprobe Gamma Detector allows the surgeon to map the lymphatic system to determine if a patient has metastasis or spread of the breast cancer to the axillary lymph nodes, without surgically removing all of the nodes. This is especially beneficial, eliminating the chances of lymphedema and cosmetic disfigurement.

Cardiac Cath Lab

Our Cardiac Cath Lab at Wadley is equipped with the latest diagnostic innovations to detect and treat obstructive cardiovascular plaque, using the AngioJet.
